What to Book at The Wave as a Beginner

When you book your session at thewave.com, you'll choose a session type. As a beginner, there are two options:

• Beginner Surf Lesson: 30 minutes of dry-land technique followed by 60 minutes in the water with a qualified coach. Recommended if you have never surfed before or have only surfed a handful of times.
• Beginner Surf Session (without a lesson): An uncoached session in the white water to practise independently. Best if you have already had at least one lesson and want to build confidence on your own.

Wetsuits are included in the price and foam boards are available free of charge for beginner sessions. Check the specific trip listing on the Surf Bus page for the session times we recommend to match your bus times.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have surfed before?

No. The Wave has beginner lessons on site and the beginner wave is designed for people who are just starting out. Plenty of people on our trips surf for the first time at The Wave.

Will I hold other surfers back?

No. Sessions are split by level, and everyone gets their own wave. You're not sharing a line-up with advanced surfers.

Do I need to bring my own board or wetsuit?

No. The Wave has board and wetsuit hire on site. You don't need to bring anything except yourself.

Is it safe?

Yes. The Wave has lifeguards on duty at all times and the waves are controlled and consistent. It's a much safer environment to learn in than the ocean.

What if I want a lesson?

How much does the surf session cost?

The Surf Bus ticket (£35 return) covers your transport only. Your surf session at The Wave is booked and paid for separately at thewave.com. Prices vary by session type.
